As part of the exhibition Generative Futures: Continuous Becoming curated by Isaac Leung the collective project ‘Weather Spores’ is presented at HKCEC , Art Gallery, Hall 3G, Level 3
‘Weather Spores’ was developed by me and my former AiDLab colleagues (PI Johnny Golding, PI Tom Simmons, Jonathan Boyd, John Wild, Shira Wachsmann, Mukul Patel) as part of ReWilding AI.
My part, Capital pAIns (in collaboration with Jack Wolf) is a sound-led AR that conducts an audio-driven, present-tense archaeology of the supply chains that deliver AI – from mineral extraction, nanoscale manufacturing and e-waste, through algorithm design, data harvesting and cleaning by ghost-workers, to deployment and resistance in society. The device refracts and scatters field recordings, spoken word and sonification of network flows to create an acoustic equivalent of an ‘exploded diagram’, revealing inner structure and relations….
